For Business Majors only. This course is an introduction to the background, role, structure, and importance of the legal system of the United States of America. Civil procedure, tort law, administrative law, bankruptcy and criminal law will be surveyed. Other areas of the law to be treated in more depth include contracts, personal property and bailments, intellectual property and piracy, real property, agency, as well as the ethics of managers and the social responsibility of business. Prerequisite: COBU 101 .
