Catalog description

An upper division course designed to provide the student with an in depth examination of the structures, functions, adaptations, and evolutionary relationships among animal phyla. The evolutionary development of major systems and characteristics of the major groups will also be covered. Attention is given to the evolutionary and ecological interaction of animals and their environment. Concurrent enrollment in the laboratory is required. Prerequisite: BIOL 205 Co-requisite: BIOL 313 Laboratory Lab: A laboratory course required to be taken in conjunction with BIOL 313 Lecture course. The students will examine representative organisms, structures and organ systems to illustrate the evolutionary development of the animal kingdom. Co-requisite: BIOL 313 Lecture.
