This course introduces mental health and behavioral disorders, focusing on the identification, assessment, and treatment of c ommon conditions. Students will explore topics such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and psychiatric disorders, with an emphasis on understanding their impact on individuals and society. The course also covers therapeutic communication, nursing interventions, and strategies for promoting mental well-being and supporting patients in managing their mental health. Prerequisites: Successful completion of all prior courses and credits throughout the ADN program with a cumulative GPA of 2.0. Must have met all attendance and remediation requirements. PHI300 - Philosophy of the Mind and Knowledge ......................................................................... 3.0 Semester Credits Course: Non-technical – General Education for Degree Program Philosophy of the Mind and Knowledge is an analysis of the human mind and how various types of knowledge are formed. Topics that will be analyzed include sense perception, environment and family, beliefs, need, experience, and self-truth. Students will evaluate the impact of increased knowledge on the conscious and subconscious and how individuals use their knowledge to approach various forms of problems. Students evaluate various problems of the mind and then form and present conclusions as to how those pr oblems impact an individual’s actions, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
