Catalog description
This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the care of infants, children, and adolescents in healthcare settings and is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to provide safe, effective, and evidence- based nursing care to pediatric patients and their families. Students will develop an understanding of the developmental stages and milestones of pediatric patients, as well as the pathophysiology, assessment, and management of pediatric illnesses and conditions. Students will build on their communication and interprofessional collaboration skills to provide comprehensive care that addresses the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of pediatric patients. Upon completion of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care to pediatric patients in a variety of healthcare settings. Prerequisites: ENG115, ISD205-AN, MAT125-AN, BIO101, BIO201, BIO202, NUR103, NUR104, NUR155, NUR156, NUR160, & NUR161
