Catalog description

An introduction to the melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic musical elements as written and performed in jazz. Topics include principles of harmonic structure, aspects of rhythmic and metric structure, and development of skills for analyzing jazz compositions and recorded improvisations. Typically Offered: Fall, odd years. Prerequisite : MUS 124 Music Theory II.
