This course is an interdisciplinary investigation of the political, economic, and social developments that shaped the region, from the age of empires to the decolonization of the twentieth century. Using a comparative approach, this course examines the Atlantic community constructed between Africa, Western Europe and the Americas, with particular attention to the interactions on matters of migration, market economies, ideology and cultural exchange.
