Diagnosis and Correction of Reading Difficulties.

Catalog description
In this course, teacher candidates will receive training in both formal and informal assessment procedures and data interpretation. Candidates will use this data to design and evaluate robust reading interventions. Students will work with a student within their licensure area to complete a case study. Key learning outcomes for this course include understanding the needs of struggling readers, developing the knowledge and skills to select and give appropriate reading assessments for various purposes, data-based planning, implementing evidence-based instructional lessons, and monitoring student progress. Emphasis will also be placed on utilizing the problem-solving model within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to support all learners. Typically Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer. Prerequisite : Admitted to Teacher Education . Prerequisite or Corequisite : EDUC 323 .
