Catalog description

In-depth study of the concepts, approaches, and algorithms related to the design and implementation of operating systems. Topics include: process management, process synchronization and inter-process communication; memory management; virtual memory; interrupt handling; processor scheduling; I/O device management; file systems; and introduction to distributed systems. Students conduct programming projects to investigate features of modern operating systems such as Linux, Unix, Micrium OS, and Windows.
