Prerequisite(s): ( PHIL 1000 or PHIL 1000H or PHIL 2050 or PHIL 2050H or PHIL 2050G or PHIL 2110 or PHIL 2150 or instructor approval) and University Advanced Standing Explores continental European philosophy. Reviews Kant's critical philosophy. Examines Hegel's attempt to go beyond the limitations of critical philosophy by creating a systematic, dialectical philosophy. Examines the following traditions as responses to Hegel: Western Marxism, Existentialism, Phenomenology, Structuralism, Post-Structuralism and Deconstruction, Post-Modernism, Psychoanalysis, and Feminism.
