Prerequisite(s): BIOL 3100 or MICR 3150 and University Advanced Standing Teaches students who have computational skills and interests in ecology and scientific writing. Integrates advanced data analytics and microbial ecology to provide experience analyzing real-world microbiome data sets and writing a publication. Covers topics in community ecology, numerical ecology, machine learning, genetic sequence data, symbiosis, and scientific writing. Offers a chance to collaborate with internal and external scientists to produce a manuscript for peer-review. Emphasizes effective collaboration strategies and reproducible methods.
