Catalog description

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Master of Education in School Counseling program. Explores the implications of counseling students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Introduces a range of cultural perspectives, including the values, beliefs, and practices that shape family life and human development. Analyzes how intersections of race, class, culture, gender, ethnicity, and sexuality influence individual and family experiences. Examines culturally sustaining intervention practices, social advocacy models, and strategies for resistance and empowerment.
