Prerequisite(s): University Advanced Standing Explores the complex relationships between food, culture, and human action. Examines the cultural underpinning of human nutrition. Discusses the selected social, cultural, medical, political, and ideological uses of food. Examines the symbolism of food to better understand taboo, fasting and feasting, class and social stratification, sacrifice, hosting, cannibalism, and narrative grotesque.
