Catalog description

Designed to acquaint students with a basic historical knowledge of 19th and 20th century diplomatics, a geopolitical basis from which to better understand global politics, and a basic knowledge of the theories and approaches to international relations currently employed at the research level. However, the course is not intended to instruct students in the mechanics of empirical research, nor is it intended to be either a history or geography course. Rather, the goal is to relate specific international actions to the aforementioned theories and approaches, thus, allowing the student to better understand the complexity and interdependent nature of international relations.
