Catalog description

Fundamental topics and algorithms common to many areas of computational mathematics. Topics include: truncation and round-off error, basic numerical linear algebra (Gaussian elimination and calculation of eigenvalues), root-finding methods, interpolation/approximation methods (least squares and Fourier analysis), and numerical differentiation/integration. Additional coursework is required for those enrolled in the graduate-level course.
