Catalog description

Analysis of emotional and behavioral disorders, considering various modalities of intervention and prevention. In addition, the characteristics of the disorders are deepened, including their diagnostic criteria, etiology, prevalence, treatments, effective management and the importance of research for evidence-based practice. Students will be able to evaluate evidence -based intervention techniques, models and strategies to offer inclusive and sensitive services according to the sociocultural context, promoting socio-emotional well-being and mental health. In addition, it will be able to make respectful recommendations, with a view to promoting equity and social justice of individ uals and populations with and without functional diversity, in different contexts. The competencies to be developed in the course are, but are not limited to: prevention and intervention, consulting and collaboration, the fundamentals of evaluation and diagnostic measurement for the promotion of developmental-appropriate practices, and the provision of individual and systemic services. The course is developed through the analysis of readings, analysis of research, presentations, class discussions, evaluation of cases and writing exercises.
