This course studies some general aspects of the origin of modern linguistics, the history and evolution of Spanish linguistics, and the main elements of the study of language. The course is based on the notion of language as a linguistic sign. The topics of language acquisition and language variations, which depend on g eographic, social and individual aspects, will also be considered.
