ETHICAL AND PROFESSIONAL ISSUES IN RESPIRATORY CARE

Catalog description
This course offers the student an introduction and history of the respiratory care profession, promoting a basic level of information skills competency. In addition, a basic level of ethics and diversity competition is promoted by discussing codes of general and professional ethics. It includes accrediting agencies and professional associations that regulate and frame the profession. The concepts of euthanasia, legal medical aspects, HIPAA law, medical terminology, and the importance of maintaining an accurate and confidential medical record are studied. In this way students are exposed to a basic level in their critical thinking competence.
