Catalog description

This course explores the essential concepts of professional nursing practice development, with special emphasis on the roles of the master's degree nurse. Discusses history, trends, politics, and issues related to role development in the United States and Puerto Rico as well as standards of care. The scope of nursing practice is discussed from an ethical perspective and from Law 254. The roles of leader, collaborator, administrator, educator, researcher and clinical expert are analyzed. Emphasizes responsibilities, ethical and legal aspects, and the importance of collaboration in achieving the goals of nursing practice. Scientific foundations and critical thinking are used to analyze new trends in essential aspects of the nursing role for a master's nurse serving a socially diverse population. It also includes general aspects of literacy (technological aspects) in health systems
