In this course the study of the basic functions, concepts and physiology of the immune system with emphasis on its role in protecting against microbial infections and tumors, immune deficiency states, autoimmunity, allergies, and viruses. It also covers the basis, diagnosis, and transmission of genetic disorders. An emphasis is given to the genetic basis of the immune response. NMDP 776 FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE 1 CREDIT This course is about the study of the chronic dysfunctional states associated with physiological processes and the basic principles of functional medicine. This course provides the student a new philosophical base as the cause of the disease, which is not pathological, but a process of deregulation of the inflammatory and sometimes psychosomatic response.
