Catalog description

This course continues and finalizes the discussion of fuel metabolism. It details the roles of lipids and proteins in the production of energy. Focus is given to the liver as a primary center for the synthesis, distribution, and degradation of macronutrients and other major compounds. The dynamic flow between hepatic tissue and other organs such as the brain, kidneys, and gut for proper detoxification is emphasized. From a clinical point of view, correlations between hepatic dysregulation and various diseases are carefully explained.
