Catalog description

This course introduces the student to the use of heuristic, analytical and computational methods and tools in the design of industrial, manufacturing and service physical facilities. Course emphasize in the use of “Systematic Layout Planning” methodology (by Richard Muther) which includes type of layout determination, product flow measurement, determination of relations among activities, space requirements determination, warehouse/storage considerations, generation of layout plans and layout alternatives evaluation using quantitative methods.
