Catalog description

Comprehensive study of human resources, personnel supervision and effective communication as applied to Human Resources Management techniques in the hospitality workplaces will be presented, linking theory with real world problems and solutions, and multidimensional teaching strategies to encourage the competences of management, communication, innovation, diversity and ethics and customer service. The role, characteristics and skills of a supervisor and the principles of planning, recruitment, selection, staffing and organizing, training, performance management, coaching, counseling and discipline, controlling, delegation and decision -making are topics of study. Other topics will include how to resolve conflicts, organizational behavior theories applied to the strategic management of a successful hospitality operation, important behavioral modification factors such as management styles, motivation, job s atisfaction, employee empowerment, organizational culture, leadership, teamwork, power structure and organizational change, will be discussed and analyzed. Instruction is primarily textbook driven with accompanied online lectures and online classroom weekly discussions.
