Catalog description

Analysis of current legislation in the health sector and its application in various scenarios typical of the health environment in Puerto Rico and the United States. Detailed study of the historical process of legislation related to the provision of health services. The course emphasizes the ethical and legal aspects that affect the healthcare industry. It will work with the application of concepts in health service organizations such as: negligence, right to the patient, informed consent, doctor -patient relationship, accidents, collective bargaining and ethical and legal aspects, among others. At the end of the course, the student will be able to interpret the development of new laws that affect the daily health operation This course provides the opportunity to evaluate state or national situations in order to proactively present corrective alternatives and with the use of the correct vocabulary.
