LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES IN THE EVALUATION OF HEALTH SERVICES

Catalog description
The course teaches students related to legal, ethical and compliance aspects in both research and health sector assessment in Puerto Rico and the United States. It will prepare the student to exercise audit functions in matters related to patient rights, r isk control, ethics and compliance. You will know the specific regulations of Patient Rights, Organic Law of the Department of Health (Act 81 of March 14, 1912), Mental Health Act of Puerto Rico (Act 408 of October 2, 2000), Law of the Charter of Rights of the Puerto Rican Veteran of the XXI Century and create the Veterans and Veterans Education Trust (Act December 203, 2007), HIPAA -Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 1996 and Federal Law 45 CFR 46 Parts A, B, C and D.
