Catalog description
In this course the theoretical concepts are discussed and the practical skills of the installation, operation and maintenance of Electric Transmission and Distribution Systems in Puerto Rico are applied. The basic electrical power systems and their demand are analyzed. Electrical substations are studied: functions, types, equipment, arrangement. High voltage systems. Levels and classes of insulation. High vo ltage measurement. Types of power lines. The tables and regulations of the National Electrical Code that apply to high voltage lines will be used. Students will develop critical thinking, technological, and quantitative competencies that are required to an alyze, install, and design electrical circuits commonly found in the field of technology.
