Catalog description

In this course the student will acquire knowledge on photovoltaic and wind systems. Their parts, operation, installation and maintenance of these technologies will be studied. The operation of: photovoltaic cells, batteries, charge regulators, inverters, wind turbines and other equipment will be analyzed. The rules and regulations that govern these sy stems will be included and applied. Students will develop critical, technological, quantitative and design thinking skills that are required to optimize the use and operation of photovoltaic and wind systems. ETRE 180AL LABORATORY OF PHOTOVOLTAIC AND WIND POWER SYSTEM INSTALLATIONS 1 CREDITS This laboratory course provides the student with theoretical concepts and practical skills in the installation of existing renewable energy systems. The installation of solar panels and wind turbines are analyzed. The topics are directed to the principles of operation, selection and specifications of the different types of installations that exist for these systems. Different equipment is used such as: batteries, direct current inverter, measurement systems, inverters and others. Safety rules and codes apply for this technology. Students will develop competencies in the design and scientific reasoning required to optimize the installation, use, and operation of photovoltaic and wind systems.
