Catalog description

Three credit-hours. Three hours of lecture per week. This course introduces the fundamentals of radio frequency (RF) circuits and design. It covers the behavior of circuit components at radio frequencies, transmission line theory, the use of Smith charts in impedance matching, and the design of various RF circuits such as amplifiers, oscillators, mixers, and super -heterodyne receivers. Students will develop the scientific and quantitative reasoning skills required to analyze electromagnetic phenomena arising from circuits operating at radio frequencies as they occur in wireless communication.
