SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHING METHODOLOGY (K-5)

Catalog description
Study of the essential aspects related to the methodology of teaching the social studies curriculum in kindergarten through fifth grade levels. This includes basic concepts of teaching this subject, the theoretical context of learning, evidence-based teaching strategies, and som e aspects of law compliance. Additionally, the content standards of the Social Studies Program of the Puerto Rico Department of Education and their application in the processes of teaching planning, curricular integration, assessment, measurement, and eval uation are examined. Through multiple research experiences, collaborative work, and application in context, this course facilitates the development of the institutional competencies required at the undergraduate level. Likewise, it contributes to those rel ated to the specialty such as appropriate learning environments, pedagogical content, curriculum implementation, assessment and evaluation, and diversity and families.
