This course is based on studying the various exceptionalities that affect human development including physical, cognitive and emotional aspects. The different categories, etiology and characteristics of different disabilities as established by law are examined and analyzed in detail. Federal and local regulations guaranteeing the righ ts of persons with disabilities are studied, analyzed and enforced. The scope and sequence of this course includes studying the intervention strategies and instructional materials needed to help these students succeed in classes. The applicability on the use and management of technological assistance for each exceptionality is emphasized as part of the course of study. It also emphasizes updating administrative processes as established in the Department of Education alongside the Special Education Section. Including change and amendments to laws and public policy.
