The student formulates rationalized patient diagnosis from the interpretation of the patient’s me dical and dental history, clinical examination, diagnostic aids, and complementary examinations, and from interdisciplinary consultations. The process consists of presentation(s) to faculty and classmates as part of the process to discuss the: (1) diagnosis; (2) student-proposed treatment plan(s) that are reflective of the patient’s values, preferences and expressed needs and (3) expected outcomes and prognoses. This course also places emphasis on presentation of completed treatment plans and on recall patients with the intent of recognizing and supporting (with evidence from peer reviewed literature) the value of recall and personalized patient maintenance programs and the impact that these have in short and long-term treatment prognosis.
