Catalog description

Three credit-hours. Three hours of lecture per week. Selected advanced topics in computer security are discussed in the context of the pervasive role and impact that computer technology has over the individual, the enterprise and on society-at-large. Core topics to be covered include penetration testing with Kali Linux which will take up the first half of the course. Other selected topics will vary from time to time and will typically include information assurance, data backup and redundancy, digital rights management, botnets, risk analysis and identity theft. Students will hone their analytical skills to ensure data privacy and communication security. In addition, students will consider ethical situations in the context of data security.
