Catalog description

Study of the foundations, principles and figures of the Constitutions of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and of the United States of America, critical contrast between them, with emphasis on the study of individual freedoms and civil rights provisions, as interpreted by the federal and local courts. Emphasis on the development of basic critical thinking skills through the analysis of current social problems that allow the student to evaluate and propose solutions based on the knowledge acquired about government boundaries and the constitutional rights of people in society. In addition, communication skills are developed by listening, speaking, reading and writing with the basic technical language particular to this field. Also, development of ethical and diversity competencies is promoted through the recognition of individual differe nces and the protection that they equally deserve before and by the State. Development of basic information and technical skills is promoted through the use of various sources of information on research topics, complying with the relevant ethical and legal principles and of the use of technological equipment and applications in the participation in diverse academic activities
