Catalog description
The aim of this course is to discuss, analyze and apply the basic concepts and techniques of the most common cognitive models from 2nd and 3rd generation used in Counseling Psychology. It will provide the students with the knowledge to conceptualize using different cognitive models and apply their therapeutic techniques. At the end of the course the students will be able to: know the philosophical background of the cognitive psychology and its development up to the present moment; discuss and analyze the wo rk of the principal exponents: Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis; conceptualize using the cognitive models; apply the different cognitive therapeutic techniques; integrate the acceptance and mindfulness elements in the cognitive therapy through the models: Mindf ulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy..
