Catalog description

This course examines the forms and characteristics of media culture at the beginning of the century and its relationship with international capitalism. Additionally, it evaluates the concepts of spectacle, simulation and performance as foundational elements of contemporary media culture. It studies the "aesthetics of the world" in traditional media (cinema, radio or television) and new media (Internet) according to how they reflect and are a reflection of the characteristics of international capitalism. It analyzes globalization and neoliberalism as institutional units of the postmodern restructuring of capitalism from which the founding cultural forms of the current world operate.
