WATER AND WASTEWATER ENGINEERING
Universidad Ana G. Méndez-Gurabo Campus · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Analysis of water distribution systems and water storm sewer systems providing comprehensive coverage of hydrology, hydraulics, and water -resources planning and management. The material is rigorous, relevant to the practice of water resources engineering, and reinforced by detailed presentations of design applications. Description of the design and process of flow in closed conduits, pumps, pumps selection, stages of the wastewater treatment process, design of water storm sewer system, water distribution sy stem, water demand, estimation of per -capital demand, pipelines, design of drainage channels, design of sanitary sewers, design of hydraulic structures. The course examines the need to identify the better alternative for a water storm sewer system and wate r pumps considering the characteristics of the project site. The emphasis of the course is on principles and theory. Students will develop the quantitative, technological skills and ethical criteria for selecting the best alternative in water distribution systems and sewer and drainages areas.
