CIEN 432
REINFORCED CONCRETE DESIGN
Universidad Ana G. Méndez-Gurabo Campus · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Analysis of reinforced concrete members subject to flexure, axial and shear loads. Topics include design of slabs, beams and columns based on the strength design method. Description of the basic properties of concrete and reinforcing steel. Analysis of the load paths from floor slab to floor beams to columns to footings of a typical reinforced concrete framing system. Serviceability criteria for the design of reinforced concrete structures. Students will develop the critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, innovation, design of infrastructure and information skills required to analyze and design of concrete structures in civil engineering.
