Inorganic Chemistry focuses on the study of the chemistry of all elements and their compounds, based on the discussion of their structures, explained by Modern Atomic Theory and the various theories of chemical bonds. The concept of symmetry and Group Theo ry applied to the understanding of the molecular geometry of inorganic compounds is introduced. The physical and chemical properties associated with the electronic structure of atoms and molecules and their properties in aqueous media are studied. The elements and their compounds are described by families, generalizing them and explaining their chemical tendencies. The electronic structures, bond theories and spectroscopic and magnetic properties of transition elements are also studied, with some of their consequences and applications. Aspects of the reactivity of metal complexes from the d block of the Periodic Table are studied The course consists of 45 hours of lectures and 45 hours of laboratory.
