Catalog description
This course introduces students to the foundational principles of immunology, with an emphasis on the components and mechanisms of the immune system and their roles in health and disease. Topics include innate and adaptive immunity, antigen-antibody interactions, the complement system, major histocompatibility complex (MHC), T and B cell development and activation, cytokines, hypersensitivity reactions, autoimmunity, immunodeficiencies, vaccines, and cancer immunology. The course also addresses current clinical applications such as immunotherapies and transplantation immunology.
