Catalog description

Three credit-hours. Three hours of lecture per week. This course covers fundamental concepts related to wireless networks including wireless channel characteristics, wireless data transmission, multiple access protocols, error control, wireless standards and cellular concepts, and resource allocation. It provides a broad understanding of modern wireless networks, in particular local area networks (LANs) and cellular networks. Students will be exposed to design and analysis concepts that are essential in the development of wireless networks. Students will have an opportunity to hone their analytical skills and will use computer tools to analyze problems associated with the transport of data over cellular networks.
