Catalog description

Study of the ethical principles that guide the practice of psychology in Puerto Rico and other countries; discussion and reflection on ethical, legal, and moral issues is encouraged, as well as the commitment to responsible conduct expected for psychology professionals from their professional training stage. Based on the historical development of the regulation of psychology in Puerto Rico, the laws, regulations, and jurisprudence that impact the practice of psychology are discussed, with emphasis on, but n ot limited to, its application in the Puerto Rican sociocultural context. It facilitates comparisons between ethical principles of psychology and other professions and discusses situations to practice the decisional process in the face of ethical and legal dilemmas. The need to keep updated, during and after graduate studies, the knowledge and skills on ethical and legal issues of the discipline is highlighted. .
