PRINCIPLES OF RADIOGRAPHIC EXPOSURE AND PROCESSING

Catalog description
In this class the student will be able to critically evaluate the interactions of photons with matter and how they affect the image to use the appropriate exposure factors when taking radiographs. Assess the factors that directly affect the radiograph to make an adequate radiographic critique. Evaluate the factors that affect the exposure receptors to determine the proper use of the equipment for each of the body parts. Establish how different tissues interact with X-rays to improve beam quality. Demonstrate how the patient's movement affects spatial resolution to position the patient according to the radiographic projection and minimize the repetition of radiographic procedures. Analyze how the positioning of the patient and the X -ray tube affect the anatomical shape to obtain a clear radiographic image. Theoretically support the factors that contrib ute so that the image is represented enlarged, and the radiograph does not present geometric errors. Determine the occurrence of scattered radiation. Exemplify the types of grids and how they contribute to improve radiographic visualization.
