Catalog description

The course will provide the student with an analysis and critical thinking of the comprehensive study in decision making and actions of the underlying issues of public policy scientific research, problem definition, description, theory, model building, explanation, and prediction in research. It reviews the main substantive theories of public alternatives and examines them from quantitative and scientific reasoning applied to the logical perspective of public decision making. The course will be developed using different teaching methodologies including, but not limited to readings, audiovisual presentations, case analysis, assignments, action research, field experiences, and lectures. The course trains students for public management in organizations for efficiency and effectiveness through scientific analysis and communication. The contents of this course were revised so that they can be offered through activities in various study modalities and in pandemic, hurricane or other event scenarios that make it difficult to attend in person in the classroom.
