Leadership, practice management, and continuous quality improvement are addressed through case scenarios, directed readings, and active learning assignments related to human resource and operations management, fiscal management and accountability, billing, coding, payer systems, project management, marketing management, and information technology management. Students gain leadership skills needed to address social inequalities and to become change agents in the community, profession, and society. Journal c lubs explore qualitative research methodologies related to program development and quality improvement, while community immersion experiences provide opportunities to address social issues and apply and reflect on leadership skills. PHTD 940 PHYSICAL THERAPIST INTEGRATED EXPERIENCES IV: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT I 1 CREDIT The course is the fourth in a six -course series designed to provide supervised experiences where students will develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities to match academic preparation as a movement system expert. The course builds on prior coursework and focuses on broadening students' exposure to diverse patient populations and healthcare settings, foster community engagement, and enhance their skills as future physical therapy professionals. Through a combination of community needs assessment, health fairs, and interprofessional activities, students gain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare delivery beyond clinical settings. Thus, encouraging students to connect with their communities, develop cultural competence, and foster a well -rounded and c ompassionate approach to physical therapy practice. The course also emphasizes evidence -based practice, clinical reasoning, and effective communication within the context previously described.
