This course presents the principal methods of human nutrition research with focus on the role of the nutritionist as part of a research team. Qualitative and quantitative research, research ethics, quality control, selection of dietary assessment methodology and sources of founding are discussed. A research study is conducted as part of this course and results are share with other students and faculty members. The students will have the opportunity to analyze research articles from well-recognized journal of nutrition topics. Objectives:1. Identify and classify the different research methods. 2. Apply selected research methods to a nutritional re search project. 3. Explain the steps to conduct research. 4. Develop skills to disseminate results of a research study (oral & written). 5. Develop critical thinking to analyze research articles.6. Interpret current research and interpret basic statistics. 7. Identify the role of the nutritionist as a researcher and as a research consumer
