Catalog description
This course provides the student knowledge on growth and development theories, family issues and the ethical/legal aspects of pediatric nursing care. Provides student with knowledge and skills needed to identify most common acute and chronic disorders, and how they affect growth, development and homeostasis. Impact of hospitalization in infants, children and adolescents is also discussed. Quantitative reasoning is used in the dosage calculation and administration of medication to the pediatric patient in different stages. In clinical practice, holistic nursing care focuses on evidence base practice, and safety and quality improvement principles, considering clients’ cultural diversity.
