Catalog description

The course addresses the principles of nursing care of adult and elderly in different states of growth and development. The health alterations discussed in this first part of the course include: fluid and electrolyte balance, perioperative disorders, oxygenation, cardiovascular, hematological, immune, nutritional and gastrointesti nal elimination. It addresses the concepts of cultural diversity and health disparity, organ donation, as well as social determinants of health. Emphasis is placed on professional and ethical behavior. Students use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care provided to clients in primary, secondary and tertiary health scenarios, using the technological skills. In clinical practice, holistic nursing care focuses on evidence -based practice, and safety and quality improvement principles, considering clients’ cultural diversity.
