BIOCHEMISTRY I

Catalog description

This course introduces the major compounds of the human body, including but not limited to nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Emphasis is given to their structure, molecular behavior, and function with the purpose of understanding how metabolic reactions occur in a state of health versus disease. Discussion of fuel metabolism is started with the degradation of glucose and will be finished during the second part of the course.
