Catalog description

In this course, students will learn important concepts developed for the administration and supervision of clinical laboratories. The course will emphasize financial aspects, state and federal regulations, security, tools for collaboration with the public and in special situations, ethics, statistical calculations, and reporting of results. Additionally, techniques will be developed to address the educational aspects relevant to their field of work. MTEC 401 CLINICAL LABORATORY INSTRUMENTATION, METHODOLOGIES AND MOLECULAR TECHNIQUES 2 CREDITS This course is directed to the discussion and explanation of the appropriate use of materials, supplies and laboratory equipment, and their relationship with the adequate management of clinical samples using standard or universal precautions. With emphasis on discussions of the importance of the diagnosis using clinical procedures, instruments and molecular testing in the clinical analysis. Basic concepts of calibration and validation of equipment. Discussion, practice and principles of analysis and mathematical processes, quality assessment necessary for results and the diagnosis of diseases.
