Catalog description
This course prepares the student with the skills and tools necessary to develop an appropriate environment for the care, attention and management of the aging population. The student will be able to identify the client's immediate and long-term needs. Emphasis on the development of knowledge and skills of critical thinking and customer care to foster and maintain an adequate and effective environment for the we ll-being of the person. The implications of sensory and perceptual fields, learning, memory, personality and motivation in the daily routines of the elderly will be examined. Emphasis will be placed on developing proper communication with both the clients and their family. The course will be carried out through readings, case -studies, and presentations in which students will apply the knowledge acquired.
