INVESTIGATION AND COLLECTION OF EVIDENCE AT THE CRIME SCENE

Catalog description

The course focuses on responsibilities of forensic investigators to protect the crime scene, process and gather the evidence, and any other duty necessary in order to achieve the successful criminal prosecution of the accused. It also deals with different methods and techniques used to identify and analyze physical evidenc e located at the crime scene. The elements and the possible physical evidence at the crime scene will be discussed, among other themes. Emphasis on the development of basic critical thinking skills through the analysis of current forensic crime investigations problems that allows the student to evaluate and propose solutions based on the knowledge acquired about how to protect, process and gather the evidence at the crime scene. In addition, communication skills are developed by listening, speaking, reading and writing with the basic technical language particular to this field. Also, development of ethical and diversity competencies is promoted through the recognition of the ethical standards of the discipline and the respect to diversity in all its variants. Development of basic information and technical skills is promoted through the use of various sources of information on research topics, complying with the relevant ethical and legal principles and of the use of technological equipment and applications.
